Cognitive tools are automatic tools that can adapt their work parameters according to a given environmental situation. By cognitive robotic workers we mean complete, sensor-based robot systems that can work more or less autonomously in variable work environments and can easily be embedded into a cognitive factory. The factory itself, which will be composed of a multitude of such workers, is characterized by being able to self-adapt to changing working conditions, like the number of human workers, and also adapt to the organization of the manufacturing processes and objects. This self-organization makes the factory as a whole fault-tolerant and robust.
